Living Nostradamus – The Weird Side of the Internet – by Liam Sweeny.
Do you believe in Nostradamus? You know, the sixteenth century prophet that is persona most grata at any New Age or conspiracy shindig. His quatrains go thousands of years into our future, and, at least during his time, he made enough accurate predictions to be a renown seer.
Did you know there’s a new, “Living Nostradamus”? There is. He is Brazilian parapsychologist Athos Salomé has been predicting, and he claims that four of his predictions have come true in 2024. So let’s take a look.
He says that the world is heading for World War Three. When I was younger, I would read a prediction in a book somewhere and feel like I had just uncovered something earth-shattering. But hearing World War Three now has got me wondering what the memes are going to be like. We’re already in World War Three, so Athos Salome is stating the obvious.
He claims that there will be major natural disasters in 2024. Unlike 2023, 2022, 2021… the October snowstorm of 1987. Remember that? I was staying at my grandma’s house, woke up to a foot of snow. Broke the tree at the sandlot. I believe the original Nostradamus predicted that in a later quatrain.
He said that they are going to find an asteroid with abundant minerals, and countries are going to fight over it. This might be a good prediction, but an actual asteroid has to show up. I’m going to need him to name the asteroid in order to believe this prophecy.
Last one, technology is going to explode, with virtual reality and augmented reality. Yeah, that’s news. You ever see VR porn? Me neither. But do we really need to go beyond that? Maybe they can develop a machine that shows you reality, like those sunglasses in “They Live!”
So nope. Not convinced. I feel like I could predict some stuff by just saying “what if?” a few times.
