Vegas Rocks! Music Magazine
ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons and Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen will be honored at the seventh Vegas Rocks! Magazine Music Awards, put out by Sally Steele. The award show will occur on Sunday, January 21, 2021 Sam’s Hotel and Gambling Center in Las Vegas. This also celebrates Vegas Rocks! Magazine’s 20th anniversary. People can attend in-person or online via streaming on Vegas Rocks! Music Magazine’s social media platform.
Gibbon and Nielsen will be getting “Lifetime Achievement Awards” and will share the stage with Kip Winger (Winger,) Eric Bloom and Buck Dharma (Blue Öyster Cult), Rikki Rockett (Poison) and others.
Sally Steele is Vegas Rocks! Music Magazine’s publisher, and the organizer of the event says: “We are thrilled to honor and recognize such great music artists like Billy Gibbons and Rick Nielsen and so many other rock artists who have made brilliant contributions to music over the decades.”
Dixie Chicks
Co-founding member of the Dixie Chicks Laura Lynch was killed in a head-on collision in El Paso, Texas, on Friday, December 22nd. Lynch was one of the original member of the first go-around of the Dixie Chicks, alongside Emily Strayer, Martie Maguire, and Robin Lynn Macy. Their early years were bluegrass, with Lynch playing upright bass and backing up vocals.
Lynch took over vocals after Robin Lynn Macy left the band. Lynch was replaced by Natalie Maines after six years and three independently produced studio albums. This is when The Dixie Chicks went more pop, and attracted the musical success that led them into the American mainstream.
In 2020, the scrapped the ‘Dixie’ from their name, and now they’re just ‘The Chicks.”
Mötley Crüe
Mötley Crüe has canceled their New Year’s Eve Concert set for the Acrisure Arena in Greater Palm Springs. This was a one-off show. The cause, according to the band, was production issues.
“It is with deep regret we must inform you the Crüe Year’s Eve show in Palm Springs is being canceled,” the band said on X (Twitter). “The very short timeframe to produce the event resulted in issues beyond our control. We look forward to seeing you all in 2024!”
Fear not, for you will have other opportunities to see Mötley Crüe elsewhere. They’ve added two shows at the Hard Rock in Atlantic City, May 3rd and 4th. You can also check them out at Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Summerfest in Milwaukee, and Ottowa Blues Fest in Canada.
In addition, bassist Niki Sixx announced that Motley Crue will be putting out new music next year, alongside animated work.
